How to Install WordPress to SiteGround
Hi! Today’s the day we install WordPress to Siteground! Here’s what to do:
Sign-in to your account, and go to the top right-hand corner of the Siteground homepage at www.siteground.com. Then click “Log In”. Enter your email and password that you picked yesterday when you signed up with SiteGround.
This is the screen you will see after doing this:
Go to the Tab labeled “My Accounts” and click on it. You will be taken to the next screen as seen below:
Click on the red “button” marked “cPanel”. A dialogue box will appear from the top of the screen titled cPanel Access, which relates to security. Simply click the “Proceed” button. The correct option is already ticked. Once you do this, you will see the screen below which allows you to choose the option to install WordPress.
In the second row of buttons marked “Autoinstallers”, you will see a button labelled “WordPress”. Click on this button to begin the installation process. You will be taken to a WordPress screen marked “Softaculous”.
At the bottom left corner of this screen, there is a link labelled “Install Now”. Click on this link. The following page will come up:
This page has several input fields, and many of them will already have information in them. Leave all of the information the same as it comes up, except for the two fields near the centre of the page marked “Admin Username” and “Admin Password”. Change the information in these two fields to your own information that you will remember. This information will be the login information to get into WordPress to enter all of your content.
Another thing to note, make sure the field marked “Choose a Theme to install” is set to none. We will go into your WordPress admin area tomorrow to set that up.
Next, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “Install” button.
The next screen you will see will be a WordPress screen similar to the ones you have just been in, however, it will say “Congratulations, the software was installed correctly” at the top.
You will then receive an email from SiteGround confirming your Admin Username and Password for WordPress, and providing you with the link which leads you to the login screen.
The link to your login screen for WordPress will look like this:
www.yourwebsitename.com/wp-admin.
It is a good idea to bookmark this link to your browser favourites, so that you do not have to key it in each time you want to access the WordPress login screen. Otherwise, you will be keying it in a lot!
You’re all set up! Well, sort of … stay tuned tomorrow for a summary of some of the features of WordPress.
